Welcome to the home of the Delaware Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Registry and the Stakeholder Engagement Project.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD) are serious and costly diseases that consume nearly 25 percent of the Medicare budget. The highest rates of CKD, which affects more than 20 million adults, are seen in individuals over 60 years of age. Diabetes and hypertension are the most frequent causes of CKD in the United States. In 2013, there were 2,287 patients in chronic renal replacement therapy in Delaware.
This initiative is housed within the Christiana Care Value Institute with a team of dedicated professionals including staff from the Delaware Academy of Medicine / Delaware Public Health Association, volunteers, caregivers, and patients.
